Winter Wonderland

The playhouse , originally uploaded by Jenniferschwalm.

Isn't this just a picture postcard? The snow is so pretty - but that's because I don't have to leave the property and travel the roads. From what I have seen on the news though, everything is cancelled or closed activity-wise. That's probably for the best because weather forecasts are predicting more snow and possibly rain later! YUCK. Erik has been out since 4 am plowing - he did come home for some breakfast and more coffee and now he and Walker are out again getting back to work.

Erik forgot his coffee in the house so he had to stop and pick it up on the way back. The snow is so heavy already, he had to back up and get a running start again in order to push all the snow out of the way. He had already plowed the driveway once today too.

Our house (still not finished)

What kind of crack heads live here anyway?  Tyvek and insulbrick.  I'm starting to get concerned that the authorities using heat sensor equipment will start to suspect that our house is actually being used to produce crystal meth or grow marijuana  - that outdoor wood burner keeps this house HOT - and Erik, the man who previously got by with the temp set at 68 in the sunroom and 63 in the rest of the house, now feels "cold" when the temp drops to 70 anywhere in the house!  He yells at me all the time for having the ceiling fan on, but he's not the one working in here - I am.  I literally broke a sweat sweeping the floor yesterday.  That's just not right!

You'd never guess it was warm, cozy and toasty inside this house, would you? Someday it will be finished on the outside. Unless it keeps snowing like this!

Happy Birthday, Erik

Dolly Madison

Okay, can anyone really see this as a ferocious barn cat? This little fur ball is as tall as she is wide - and it is not fat! She is just so furry. I know I've said it before, but she really is the most adorable thing I've seen in a long time. We weighed her the other day in the goat sling - she didn't even register 2 pounds yet! Half that was probably fur. The funniest thing is that she is fast friends with our Australian Shepherd, Maverick. He puts up with her pawing and clawing at him, and they have even been seen buddying up together. I can almost hear Maverick saying, "Well, that little whipper-snapper" as Dolly bats at his stubby little tail.

Watching the donkey get his hooves trimmed

Will was desperate to get outside last Saturday, so I hauled us both out to the stable and we watched Erik & his mom man handle Maurice the donkey and trim his hooves. It was quite a site and Will was really amused. Will just loves it outside and can't wait to go out. Aren't his eyes and eye lashes amazing? Everyone comments on his eyes. Some of you will remember when Walker would "make eyes" at the ladies. I think Will is going to be quite the charmer too!

Goodness Grows Manchester, "Manny"

This is "Goodness Grows Manchester" or as we call him, Manny. This is the billy we partially drove to Cinci for. I'm glad we came home with him because it really made the trip worthwhile. He's got about 5 more months until we start letting him do his job. We're excited to see what he can do!

Evolution of my cameras

The top camera is the canon I bought for Erik for Christmas that we were married. I bought it so we would have a great camera to take with us on our honeymoon. The compact flash held like 60 photos!

The other camera is my new camera Erik bought me for Christmas. I wanted to have a little point and shoot to keep in my purse for those unexpected shots and so I don't have to drag around my Sony and bang it up. Funny part is that the original camera is probably almost as heavy as the DSLR. The new point n shoot is really nice and I'm glad to have it so I don't bang up my good DSLR anymore. Of course, this also means I'm dragging around 2 cameras everywhere!

Maggie helps make cookies

This pic was taken before Christmas. Maggie insisted on helping me make cookies that day. The funny part is, and you all can't see it here, is that she has adopted a fashion forward attitude of wearing a shirt and tights but no skirt or pants with the tights. I cannot convince her that she is to wear a skirt with the tights. She thinks tights are pants and that is the end of the story. On this particular day, she has on a coral colored top with leopard print tights. Lovely. And the fancy red and green headband holding back her hair. What am I going to do with her?
